All I want for Christmas is baseball back. I mean the old days when we were clean. When I could spend a conversation with friends and not have steroids come up. I wish that Mark, Sammy, and Barry were all clean. I wish that every Yankee player ever was clean. I wish that we don’t have to continue to ask A-Rod if he’s clean. But unfortunatly that day will not come for a long time. I fear that 2008 will be a much worse year for baseball than 2007 was. I fear that we will learn more and more about the cover up in the 90s and perhaps of a growing HGH problem. Believe me this is the last thing I want, but I have a bad feeling about it.
Anyway, think happy thoughts…I am sure the majority are wondering what happened to me…well the program that I use to record the podcast decided to stop working 3 weeks ago..but hopefully in the first week of January, Sports Shorts will be back on because we are switching over to Macintosh. I am hoping to do somewhat of a special report on the steroids thing. I have been reading the 400 page report for real. So look for that to come out in mid january. Of course we will have the 2nd Annual Super Bowl Show!!! Zac will be sure to back for that one. 2008 will be a big year for Sports Shorts!!!
Santana Gate Day: I am no longer counting
My final decision…I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT!!!!!
Patriots Undefeated???
Did anybody that doesn’t live in Miami seriously believe that the Fins could win two in a row…of course not. But now the Patriots are comin to Gotham. And my sources tell me that the Yankee Faithful are calling this a last stand against the Red Sox Nation in their feeble attempt to take the realm of Football from us because they suck so much at baseball…no but seriously there is nothing that New Yorkers would love more than to spoil that perfect season. And the Giants could there is no doubt in my mind of that. But will it happen I am about 85% sure it will not. I believe that the pressure will be nothing for the Pats and that this game will be a sinch. Good thing the G-Men clinched the playoffs yesterday because they would have been in a tight spot on Sunday. I expect the Giants to come out in full force for this one, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Tom “I Hate You” Coughlin plays it smart.

First off!!! The podcast will probably come out tomorow. I will talk about this new system…but this isn’t even the best thing coming to Sports Shorts so STICK AROUND!
Before you ask…I don’t believe the league rigged last night’s game. I just think we saw that the Ravens aren’t the best team to take advantage of the Pats’ slip ups. Yeah there were A LOT of questionable calls and lucky breaks for New England. BUT ONCE AGAIN!!! Thomas “The Golden Boy” Brady showed off why he is the best this year. The kid is a shoe in for MVP. This team can’t be beat and it is looking more and more that we will have one 16-0 and one 0-16 team this year. Sorry Dolphins!
Santana Gate Day 6
The Yankees said that they would drop out after Monday, and apparently at the winter owner meetings today the Twins and Yankees did not meet about Santana at all today. More and more the Red Sox are looking like they are going to sacrifice young talent for Santana. This isn’t good for the rest of the league…have no fear the Angels are still in it! Also a lot of talk is goin around about Dontrelle Willis and Orlando Cabrera to Detroit! That would be big.
We also have news that the Mitchell Report on steroids in the MLB will be released near the end of this year! This is big news and I can’t wait…
Games to Watch…..No real big games tonight!
OHHH VICTORIA’S SECRET FASHION SHOW!!! 10pm on CBS

Before we get to Santana Talk I wanna say….I TOLD YA SO. The Cowboys are the most dominant team in the NFC. Mind you that in no way means they can handle the Pats in a Super Bowl scenario so please drop the “we can beat em the 2nd time around” talk. Frankly I believe that Aaron Rodgers did a great job, 200 yards one td no picks. Us sporty people call that a good run considering the circumstances. If you really wanna blame somebody in Green Bay for the loss blame the old man. Yeah there were some really questionable plays that were called, but Brett threw the ball to much into double coverage and forced throws. His offensive line didn’t help him much either, but an experianced QB like Mr. Favre should be able to recognize the blitz every now and then. Also Tony Romo was unstoppable last night. The Pack Defense was overwhelmed. That is the fact.
SANTANA-GATE DAY 3 UPDATE
Ok I believe this is one big game of Chicken. SUPPOSEDLY the Yankees and the Red Sox are the two horses in this race. But the Twins GM has said that he wants Joba Chamberlain and Ryan Phillips from the Yankees and John Lester and Jacobi Ellsbury from the Sox. That is a massive price to pay for this guy. Not only that price but after gettin the trade you are gonna have to pay some heavy cash so that Santana can waive the no trade clause in his contract. From an unbiased view point you really have to believe that the Sox have no big need for Johan. They have a stacked rotation and really don’t need him. The Yankees meanwhile need an ace really really bad. So one has to believe that they will do what it takes. I think the Yankees might have to give up a major prospect and if its a pitcher it will probably be Phillips. As for this next couple of days. Expect the Twins to sit on this as long as they can…I mean its only DECEMBER!
By the way I was at the UofL game last night. Way to go Art Carmody best kicker in NCAA history. We left the game at the end of the 3rd quarter then came back after they tied. I charged the field in glee…twas an amazing game!!! GO CARDS THANKS SENIORS

NFC dominance is at stake for the first time in 3 weeks. I pick the Boys in a blow out. Tony Romo is the best quarterback in the NFC and I think the Packers are much too young to be the best. You do have to give your dap to the Pack though, McCarty and Co. have done an amazing job with this team. Of course Brett has done wis part. But I wouldn’t be suprised if Brett can stay hot and steal one in Irving.
By the way….I have the NFL Network and if you don’t I am very sorry. Its all about the money and guess what. Week 17 Pats Vs. Giants on the NFL Network. May I remind you that THAT game may make history….THANKS NFL

This should be a happy occasion, being the first post on this new format, but our thoughts and prayers go out to the Taylor family in Miami as they mourn. Sean Taylor was turning around his life and it is very sad that somebody had to ruin that for him.
It may be hard to do for some, but now to the sports….
O.J. Simpson pleaded not guilty today, and his trial has been set for April 7, 2008. I honestly can’t wait to finally see him in jail. Good riddance O.J. you can never escape the law. I can only hope that it is a fair trial seriously. This shouldn’t be a vengance conviction even though so many of us know that glove fit so long ago. This is a completely different crime and deserves a very clean slate.
The race is on to sign Minnesota Twins ace Johan Santana. Yesterday there were numerous reports the New York Yankees are close to a trade to bring the two time Cy Young winner to the Bronx, but now the Mets are reportedly in the race. The Red Sox, Angels, and Dodgers are also considered to be in the running. Santana has turned down an $80 million dollar contract extension, and the Twins can not afford a bigger price tag. The Yankees have said that youngster setup man Joba Chamberlain and second baseman Robinson Cano. The Bronx Bombers do need an ace, and any team can pick up Santana will be better off. He is the best pitcher on the market by a country mile. Sure Dontrelle Willis is talented, but the Yankees are looking for an ace who has already proved himself. Santana would make a great teacher to Joba and Ryan Phillips, lets just hope he fares better than Carl Pavano.
